Why it works
I play the legato portion of this solo pickless, which creates a high-stakes transition once I need to grab it from my mouth. The legato run is starts fast but simple enough staying in the 9th position; the run up to the 17th position is trickier, and here I try to focus first on the position of my left hand before the right hand tap. This sounds obvious, but it really helped me slow down the run in my head.
The picked portion is comparatively easy with a few tasty bends and an atonic, everything-breaks-down conclusion so the solo.
